Co-authors Jonas Sevin and Stephen Sprague met in Austin, Texas in 2012 and began developing Creatures of Conquest shortly thereafter. Through many, many meetings, the project evolved into what it is today, an illustrated novel that seeks to relay the message of universal hope through historical folklore.

The Creatures of Conquest Crew

Spinning yarns and weaving tapestries…

Jonas Sevin grew up amidst the swamps and marshes of Southeast Louisiana aboard a 51 foot cypress-hulled shrimp boat built by his father and grandfathers. His interest in storytelling stems from the generational fables told by bayou elders as well as the art and characters of comic books and cartoons from his childhood. Jonas graduated from Nicholls State University with a degree in Fine Arts and a revitalized interest in creative writing. His illustration and writing styles blend classical and modern techniques that create timeless appeal.

Stephen Sprague, a native of Austin, Texas, attended Emerson College where he earned a degree in Film and Media Arts. Stephen has worked in both big budget as well as independent films on both the East and West coasts. His knowledge of developmental process and passion for character-driven story have contributed to crafting Creatures of Conquest into a relatable exploration of culture, relevant for an ever changing world.
